Everyone in the DFW area has been excited about Toyota moing their North American headquarters to Plano Texas ever since they announced it in 2014. The new corporate campus will be located near Highway 121 and the Dallas North Tollway and will not only include Toyota but also some of their strategic business partners who have opted to move their offices nearby. This will bring 4,000 jobs to the city (some will be corporate relocations, and some will be new jobs for people living here now). It’s a huge economic boost for the area.
On January 20, 2015, they hosted their ground breaking on the new site in Plano TX, and they did it with style! No one was there holding shovels and waiting for the photo op…instead Toyota broke ground using a Texas-built Toyota Tundra pickup to turn the soil. Add in the fact that it was a burnt-orange Texas-built truck and you might think that people in Texas really are proud to be a part of this great state! (I secretly wondered if the powers-that-be are University of Texas Austin fans).
